Thanks for helping us raise awareness and funds during the 4th annual “We Have A Voice” Child Abuse Awareness Walk benefiting the Suzanne Gresham Center. The money that was raised will help children and families impacted by abuse with emergency needs and basic necessities: food, shelter, clothing, transportation, etc. The need is great:

  • One in four girls and one in four boys will be victims of abuse before their 18th birthday.
  • In Indiana, approximately 28,000 children are victims of abuse and/or neglect every year.
  • In Delaware County, about 3,000 girls and 2,000 boys will be victims of abuse.

In addition to walking the course on the campus of Ball State University, participants were also able to browse booths and talk to Meridian representatives about preventing child abuse and visit booths sponsored by other community agencies that support children. To date, over 1,500 walkers have participated and over $20,000 has been raised to help local children and families.

The Suzanne Gresham Center, a division of Meridian Health Services, is a specialty center dedicated exclusively to children helping improve the lives of children through counseling, family assistance, foster care, school-based programs, medical care, and child abuse/neglect recovery.
