HealthSource. Meridian Services

Meridian Services is more than just Central Indiana’s premier provider of quality behavioral health services. It’s true that individuals with challenges can find expert and compassionate treatment at Meridian Services, but where Meridian really shines is in its dedication to a higher quality of care through the integration of health services. Meridian staff and facilities are dedicated to providing a comfortable and healing environment for patients and specialized programs covering the full spectrum of care. Meridian Services offers integrated health care now with the addition of primary medical care, Meridian MD. The integration of primary medical care offers patients a seamless approach to treating the body and mind for total well-being resulting in higher quality outcomes and patient satisfaction.

Hank Milius, President and CEO of Meridian Services, states, “It’s known in the medical community that patients with chronic mental illness have a life expectancy 25 years less than the average person. Many of the patients experience diabetes, hypertension, respiratory issues and other conditions that can be treated by primary care physicians. Unfortunately, with a shortage of primary care physicians, patients find it difficult to access care. Meridian can now assure our patients that these essential services are available. In addition, the quality of care is significantly increased through the integration and coordination of multiple treatments. Now being able to offer this crucial care to patients we can help them participate in better wellness and medical care, which will improve the health of patients.”

Meridian Services provides services in as many as 20 counties. It has outpatient locations in 5 counties with a main campus location at 240 N. Tillotson Avenue in Muncie, which includes 3 different specialty facilities, including Meridian MD. Meridian Services offers outpatient counseling and treatment for an array of issues including, depression, anger management, anxiety and stress, chemical and substance dependency, trauma, and many other emotional and mental health conditions.

In addition to outpatient counseling, Meridian Services offers more intense programs to help people develop and reintegrate back into the community that include daily support services, skill building, independent living support, outpatient substance abuse detox, support groups and community assistance services. Meridian also offers more specialized facilities including a children’s treatment center, the Suzanne Gresham Center (located in the former Morrison-Mock building located at 3620 W. White River Blvd.), a one-of-a-kind specialty center dedicated exclusively to children and family services.

Programs here are designed to improve a child’s well being. These include child and family programs, counseling, community-based programs, school based services,
outpatient teen substance abuse treatment, and in-home and re-unification services for at-risk families. A board certified child/adolescent psychiatrist is also available.

The Gresham Center also houses the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) dedicated to child abuse investigations and recovery. The CAC is designed for a child’s comfort and is one of only four fully certified CACs in Indiana. In abuse situations, a child can speak to law enforcement and legal teams more openly and effectively in this comfortable and safe environment. The Gresham Center is also home to FosterHope, a specialized foster care
program for children in need of emotional support.

In addition, Meridian Services offers a one-of-a-kind specialty program, Connxxions, for people suffering from both developmental and mental health challenges.

Meridian Services’ behavioral medical services consist of licensed psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses who provide evaluations, consultation, and medication reviews. Medical Services include an after-hours clinic, full service pharmacy, primary medical care, and inpatient care.

Acute inpatient care is available through Meridian and located at Ball Memorial Hospital, a Clarion Health Partner. A geriatric psychiatric inpatient unit (20 beds) treats seniors experiencing depression, age-related dementia, including Alzheimer’s and other disorders. A 16 bed unit treats adults suffering form acute episodes of depression and related disorders.
