Eilleen Moore has been at Meridian Services since 1993 and was instrumental in the establishment of the CAC in the old Morrison Mock school which was purchased by Meridian in 2005. Thanks to incredible design and renovations that produced a child friendly environment at the CAC, as well as state of the art technology for interviewing victims, and the deployment of a multidisciplinary team in conducting these interviews, rates of abuse cases accepted for prosecution in Delaware County have risen from 27% in 2006, to 78% in 2011, a 289% increase. Moore’s vision, leadership and execution produced these results.
Scott is a remarkable individual who, in 2011 alone, demonstrated his impact on our community all of which cannot begin to be detailed in this nomination, but which include his strong leadership in youth sports, his philanthropy, his impact on the financial growth and sustainability of Meridian Services, and his enthusiastic work on the Chamber of Commerce Image Committee. His passion inspires me and those around him to strive to make a positive impact on the world around us, and that may be the greatest reason why Scott Smalstig should be The Star Press 2011 Person of the Year.
