Meridian Health Services & Anthem Medicaid

Meridian Health Services & Anthem Medicaid

Important Update About Your Care

Anthem announced plans to end its relationship with Meridian Health Services for Medicaid patients starting July 25, 2026. This means that Anthem will try to transfer you to a new doctor, most likely farther away. This could make it harder to get the care you need because finding a new doctor may take time, wait times for appointments may be longer, and the providers Anthem offers may not be easy to reach or the ones you prefer. Nothing changes before July 25—you can keep your Meridian appointments and schedule new ones before that date.

This was not Meridian’s choice. Anthem unexpectedly decided to end our relationship without a clear reason. This decision will unfairly interrupt your care. We are actively working to convince Anthem to let us continue to treat you and your family.

Continuity of Care

Some patients may be able to keep seeing their Meridian provider for a limited time after July 25, 2026. This is called Continuity of Care. You may qualify if you are pregnant, have a serious health condition, or are in the middle of a course of treatment, such as therapy, substance use treatment, or other ongoing care. Anthem decides who qualifies. If you think you may qualify, call Anthem directly using the following phone numbers to request the Continuity of Care form.

Once you have the Continuity of Care form, we can help you fill it out. Contact us at 855-634-2439.

As a nonprofit health system with 87 locations across Indiana, Meridian Health Services has been serving Hoosier communities for more than 50 years. We support our patients’ physical and mental health needs with a “whole-person” approach that helps people live happier, healthier lives. For many, Meridian is the only place nearby to get the type of care they need and trust.

You can take action today. If you are concerned about Anthem’s decision to remove Meridian from its Medicaid network:

  • Call Anthem using the number on the back of your insurance card or your plan specific Anthem number listed here and say:
    • “I want Meridian Health Services to stay in network”
    • “I trust my Meridian doctor and do not want to switch to someone new.”
    • “I am worried about traveling to a new doctor because I do not have transportation outside of my city.”
    • “I cannot go without my medication and worry there could be delays if I have to find a new doctor.”
  • Contact your state legislator and tell them how important Meridian is to you and your community. You can find your legislator’s contact information at https://iga.in.gov/information/find-legislators/ or using our resources below.
  • Contact the Governor’s office at 317-232-4567 (automated line where voicemails can be left) or visit https://www.in.gov/gov/contact-mike/ to express your concerns about keeping access to the Meridian doctors you know and trust.

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

What is happening between Anthem Medicaid and Meridian Health Services?

Anthem announced plans to end its relationship with Meridian Health Services for Medicaid patients starting July 25, 2026. This means that Anthem will try to transfer you to a new doctor, very likely farther away. This could make it harder to get the care you need because finding a new doctor may take time, wait times for appointments may be longer, and the providers Anthem offers may not be easy to reach or the ones you prefer.

Why is the relationship between Anthem Medicaid and Meridian ending?

This was not Meridian’s choice. Anthem made the decision to end its relationship with Meridian and remove Meridian from its Medicaid network without a clear reason. This decision will unfairly interrupt your care. We are actively working to convince Anthem to let us continue to treat you and your family.

Should I cancel my appointments?

No. Nothing changes before July 25—you can keep your Meridian appointments and schedule new ones before that date.

If I have Anthem Medicaid insurance, will I still be able to see my Meridian doctors and care team after July 25, 2026?

If Meridian remains out of Anthem’s Medicaid network after July 25, 2026, Anthem will ask you to choose a new doctor or provider for your care. If you don’t select a doctor, one may be assigned to you.

Some patients who are in active treatment may be able to keep seeing their Meridian provider for a limited time. This is called Continuity of Care. Anthem decides who qualifies for this coverage. If you think you may qualify, call Anthem directly using the following phone numbers to request the Continuity of Care form.

Once you have the Continuity of Care form, we can help you fill it out. Contact us at 855-634-2439.
