Emmanuel J Melonakos, MD

I am a pediatrician with Meridian Health Pediatrics in Muncie, Indiana, dedicated to caring for children from infancy through adolescence. My goal is to provide compassionate, patient-centered care that helps children thrive while supporting the families who care for them.
During my residency at Ascension St. John Hospital in Detroit, I cared for patients ranging from the NICU to late adolescence and managed a wide variety of medical conditions. That experience strengthened my appreciation for the unique challenges of pediatric medicine and the importance of working closely with families and multidisciplinary care teams. I also developed a strong interest in pediatric mental health, particularly adolescent anxiety and depression, ADHD, and the connection between chronic illness and mental health.
In addition to my clinical experience, I participated in pediatric cardiology research at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, contributing to several large studies on aortic coarctation in infants that resulted in two publications.
My training in Detroit exposed me to a diverse and often underserved patient population, teaching me how to navigate healthcare access challenges, socioeconomic barriers, and complex social determinants of health. Those experiences helped me become a more adaptable and culturally responsive physician, and they are a large part of what drew me to serving the Muncie community.
I chose pediatrics because I am inspired by the resilience of children and the trust families place in their healthcare providers. What began as a meaningful experience during medical school grew into a passion for helping children navigate challenges and reach their full potential. I believe pediatric care is about more than treating illness. I hope every family leaves my office feeling heard, respected, and supported. I want parents to know their concerns are taken seriously and that they have a true partner in their child’s care. Most importantly, I want children and families to leave with confidence, clarity, and the knowledge that they are not facing their challenges alone.
