MUNCIE, IN —The Muncie Crisis Center, which is currently in construction on the southwest side of town, will provide mental health and addiction services to individuals in crisis. Conceptually developed by a multi-disciplinary community team, the center is intended to provide a continuum of services for those in need including assessments for outpatient services and emergency care as needed, while reducing strain on the Emergency Room and Police Department.
IU Health has been an integral partner in planning and developing the Crisis Center. IU Health will not be staffing the Center. “This will be a welcome resource to help address a community need in Muncie,” said Mike Patrick, Behavioral Health Services, IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. “We are excited to partner with both Meridian and Muncie to work together on this project.”
Meridian Health Services, which has been nationally recognized for multiple programs, will be providing services for the Crisis Center. “We look forward to working with the City of Muncie and IU Health to help address the mental health needs in our community,” said Seth Warren, President & CEO, Meridian Health Services. “The Crisis Center’s efforts align with our vision: ‘To be a leader in the integration of physical, mental and social health’ and builds on our legacy as the Community Mental Health Center in the Muncie area for nearly 50 years.”
“We’re excited to develop this partnership,” commented Mayor Dan Ridenour. “We believe Meridian will provide great care for our community in this way.”
The Crisis Center is currently under construction, and is estimated to open this summer.
