Meridian Health Services Becomes Sponsoring Agency of the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program in Northeast Indiana

Portland, Ind. – Meridian Health Services is proud to announce they have been selected as the new sponsoring agency for the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program in Northeast Indiana including Adams, Blackford, Jay, Wells, Randolph, and Huntington counties.

The WIC Program provides vital nutrition education, healthy food benefits, and breastfeeding support for eligible women, infants, and children, helping families build strong foundations for lifelong health.

WIC Services Include:

– Nutrition and health screening and assessments
– Nutrition education and counseling
– Breastfeeding education and support
– Referrals to other Indiana health, family, and social services
– Supplemental healthy foods designed to meet special nutrition needs

Meridian Health Services is uniquely positioned as the new sponsoring agency of WIC as an integrated healthcare system serving communities across Indiana for more than 50 years through its broad spectrum of “whole-person” health including physical, mental, and social health services.

The Indiana WIC Program serves an average of 153,000 women, infants, and children each month through a statewide network of 174 WIC clinics. Furthermore, WIC supports over 500 jobs, and nearly $140 million in food sales at 600 WIC-authorized grocery stores and pharmacies across Indiana.
