Our story began with a simple but powerful belief: that every person deserves access to compassionate, comprehensive care.
We started as a small agency known as Comprehensive Mental Health Services, serving three counties, guided by the leadership and vision of Suzanne Gresham. With a dedicated team and a clear mission, we provided essential mental health services to individuals and families who needed support, stability, and hope.
That foundation, rooted in care, dignity, and community trust became the cornerstone of everything we do today.
Embracing “Whole-Person” Health
As our communities grew, so did their needs. In the early 2000s, we entered a period of significant expansion and transformation: driven by a broader understanding of what it truly means to be healthy.
The World Health Organization defines health as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity.”
This philosophy became central to our “whole-person” health driven mission.
By integrating physical, mental, and social health services, we created a model of care that sees each patient as a whole person, not a list of symptoms. This shift reshaped how we support our patients and strengthened our commitment to providing accessible, coordinated, and proactive care across the communities we serve.
Today, that “whole-person” approach is woven into every service line, every partnership, and every step we take toward building healthier lives.
Expanding Our Mission for the Future
Fifty years into our journey, we’re not slowing down, we’re continuing to look forward.
Our vision for the future is focused on deepening and expanding our “whole-person” health mission, exploring new opportunities to broaden our service lines, and meeting the evolving needs of our patients with care that is proactive, personalized, and complete.
We’re investing in innovative ways to bring health care where it’s needed most. That means increasing access for individuals in rural and hard‑to‑reach communities through approaches such as mobile outreach, school-based health, and new models of community connection that reduce barriers and make care truly accessible.
As we grow, our commitment remains the same:
- To meet people where they are.
- To anticipate their needs.
- To empower them to thrive.
The next chapter of our work is one of innovation, accessibility, and unwavering dedication to the communities we serve.
