Gary Robertson, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC

I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner providing outpatient psychiatric services at Meridian locations in New Castle and Connersville. My primary responsibility is to provide comprehensive psychiatric care across the lifespan while building strong therapeutic relationships with my patients. I conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, establish accurate diagnoses using evidence-based practices and DSM-5 criteria, and develop individualized treatment plans that address each patient’s unique needs.
I earned my Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. My graduate education provided a strong foundation in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and evidence-based treatment across the lifespan. Through advanced coursework and supervised clinical rotations in outpatient psychiatry, I gained experience conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, performing mental status examinations, developing differential diagnoses using DSM-5 criteria, managing medications, providing patient education, and creating individualized treatment plans for a variety of mental health conditions.

I chose to pursue a career in mental health because I wanted to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives by helping them improve their mental health and overall quality of life. Mental health affects every aspect of a person’s well-being, and I was drawn to the opportunity to build long-term therapeutic relationships while helping patients navigate challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar disorder, and other psychiatric conditions.
I chose Meridian because of its strong reputation for providing high-quality, patient-centered behavioral healthcare and its commitment to serving the community. I wanted to be part of an organization that values compassionate, evidence-based treatment while making mental healthcare accessible to individuals from all backgrounds.

My goal is for every patient to leave my office feeling heard, respected, and understood. I strive to create a safe, welcoming environment where patients can be open and honest without fear of judgment. I want each person to feel that their concerns have been taken seriously and that they are an active participant in their care. By helping patients better understand their symptoms, treatment options, and path forward, I hope they leave feeling hopeful, empowered, and confident that they have a provider who is genuinely invested in their well-being and success.
