Rialzo XI: Here’s what to expect, from ticket sales to health safety

from The Star Press

In just over a month, Meridian Health Services will host the 11th annual charity gala, Rialzo, at the Horizon Convention Center. Thousands are expected to “party with a purpose.”

Currently, tickets are very limited. Here is what you need to know to prepare for Rialzo XI:

When and where: Save the date! Rialzo XI begins at 6 p.m. April 18 at the Horizon Convention Center, located downtown at 401 S. High St.

Dress and theme: Grab your biggest hat; this year’s theme, “Go, Baby, Go,” is all about derby. Come dressed to impress in derby fashion, because the evening will include a best dressed couple award and best hat award. There will also be derby activities until midnight.

Cause: For the fourth year in a row, funds raised at Rialzo will benefit the health organization’s Maternal Treatment Program, which provides care, treatment and support for addicted mothers and their babies.

Bands: In true derby fashion, music for the evening will be southern themed. Starting at 7 p.m., Cook and Belle will kick off the main dinner event. Downtown Band, a Nashville-based National Southern Party Band, will perform at 9 p.m.

Features: In its 11th year, Rialzo will kick off with cocktails, entertainment, a silent auction, jewelry giveaways and the option to purchase raffle tickets. The Stable Lounge will feature live music and derby games all night. Gov. Eric Holcomb will receive the Meridian Health Services’ 2020 Spirit of Meridian Award. If you still want to party past midnight, an after party will be held at Vera Mae’s Bistro.

Tickets: Get tickets soon, before they sell out. Cost is $250 per ticket, which includes a $100 Rialzo raffle ticket that can be put toward various prizes. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit rialzo.meridianhs.org/buy-tickets.

With Indiana’s first case of coronavirus was reported on March 6, health remains a top priority for Meridian Health Services and the Horizon Convention Center.

According to a press release, as of March 10 the event was still on schedule, with extra precautions being taken. A “Pandemic Team” has been assembled to ensure the best practices and protocols for sanitization and disinfection are in place.

“The health of our community, staff, patients and partners is always a priority,” said Hank Milius, president and CEO of Meridian Health Services, in the press release. “We are adhering to the CDC and Indiana State Department of Health guidelines, and are actively monitoring news reports to be cognizant of any and all precautions necessary regarding large event gatherings especially where health concerns are at the forefront. Changing coronavirus information and any new evidence that poses threat of contamination that would change circumstances will be continually reviewed as we move forward in planning Rialzo.”

The Horizon Convention Center will provide additional disinfectant and hand sanitizers throughout the venue, increase deep cleanings, and communicate with all staff about proper sanitation procedures and when to stay home.
