Speaker Series

Speaker Series

Community. Commitment. Collaboration.

Meridian’s Speaker Series was developed to bring community leaders, professionals, educators, and the general public together to discuss and identify issues surrounding community health. Through poignant guest speakers immersed in experiences related to identified topics and a discussion panel following, we enable and engage in conversation and discuss potential collaborative opportunities where people within the community can work together to build healthier outcomes for those in need.

Speaker Series – School Assembly will be coming to additional schools in the near future!

This year’s Speaker Series events will feature TEEN TRUTH’s best motivational speaker Brandon McCall!

In 2024, Meridian is partnering with local schools to bring the Speaker Series event to these youth to reach them on topics they are struggling with and let them know they are not alone. This comes at a time when our youth need us most as the nation struggles with a youth mental health crisis. Meridian is collaborating with TEEN TRUTH to bring these impactful speakers to the schools in hopes of giving students a voice and to empower them to make a difference. These events are not open to the public.

Today’s students have pressures coming at them from many different directions. The Internet and cell phones relentlessly remind them of these pressures 24 hours per day. Because bullying, drug abuse, and self-esteem constantly affect student happiness and mental health, it has become crucial for every student to step up as difference makers that can generate positive change in the world.

Brandon McCall is a motivational speaker and youth football coach who loves to help teens find their voice. Growing up extremely poor in the inner city, Brandon quickly learned about the pitfalls that many struggling children face. Living in a neighborhood where fighting, stealing, and cheating were common, Brandon found that he didn’t have the courage to stand up to himself or for himself when it came to making negative choices.

In 8th grade everything changed. His brother was in a street fight and ended up taking someone’s life. Brandon quickly realized that his brother was about to spend a good portion of his life in prison and he was going to spend a good part of life without his big brother. This fork in the road inspired Brandon to start making changes for the better as he worked hard to get connected to teachers, counselors, and other friends on campus that made a positive impacts in his life. Today Brandon enjoys working with young students, pouring his heart into them at football practice, and has been serving as TEEN TRUTH’s best motivational speaker since 2022.
